 I find life extremely interesting. Every morning I wake up around five and my mind begins filling with ideas. I do my best to focus on one single task and thought process until it is complete and that is my goal every day. However, I inevitably become distracted with related and then unrelated thoughts just like everyone. By the end of the day, I have a new list of things to think about and accomplish in the future. I have notebooks filled with ideas, post-it notes litter my life. Sometimes I actually get back to the best ideas and build something I find personally inspiring on a new level. Summit ONE is one of many examples.
I created Summit ONE as a challenge to my skills and as an experiment to test a theory I had. Creating so many holes is more difficult than one may imagine. The prototype left permanent scars as two drill bits shattered, one of which embedded into my finger and both remove nice big chunks of skin on my left hand. The experiment is related to SWE and I can't really say much other than it worked.
Summit ONE is the first of a larger "designer series" of trumpets I will produce in the coming years. The idea is simple, take the best artistic ideas I have created over the years on paper and apply them to the canvas of my trumpets. Each designer horn will have a name, but not all will be numbers. "ONE" may be applied to the Summit or a flugel, piccolo, Bravura or whatever. The next designer series will be skeletonized Bravura trumpet and flugel designs. After that, Paua inlay features throughout the new Bravura Flugelhorn.
