Meeting Doc in the Green Room after a Cincinnati Pops concert in the early 1990's was one of my favorite trumpet moments. Very pleasant and kind in every way + he had just played totally lights-out amazing (like always), so the evening was a total pleasure. His manager finally came to wisk him away to a after-concert event, but I'll never forget spending 10+ minutes talking to him. 'We are all marked', he commented when seeing the mouthpiece mark on my chops ... just amazed he engaged me and seemed genuinely interested in taking trumpet and more. All the best, Doc!
